Czech Companies at a Crossroads: Experts Discussed the Future of Business at the Helas Business Platform Conference

Succession in family businesses, strategies when facing buyout offers, adapting to the rapidly evolving world of IT and artificial intelligence, and the impact of foreign policy on Czech business—these and other topics were discussed at a prestigious conference organized by the Helas Business Platform. The event brought together prominent Czech leaders, exporters, and entrepreneurs, offering them insights from leading experts on the challenges facing today’s business environment.

RESPECT was represented at the conference by PR Director Adéla Babišová and Financial Lines Specialist Tomáš Pavlát, who presented innovative approaches to protecting management through specialized D&O insurance during an expert session focused on the risks associated with strategic decision-making. His presentation on leadership responsibility attracted significant interest from participants, reflecting the growing importance of personal liability for executives in today’s demanding business environment.

“At a time when Czech companies are standing at critical crossroads in their development, the personal responsibility of their leaders is also increasing significantly. Every strategic decision—whether it concerns succession planning, the sale of a company, maintaining competitiveness in the coming years, or implementing new technologies—carries risks that may directly affect members of management and even reach into their personal lives,” explains Tomáš Pavlát.

“Properly structured D&O insurance is no longer just a standard form of protection; it is becoming a strategic tool that allows company leadership to make decisions with confidence, knowing their personal assets are protected even if unforeseen consequences arise. We see that companies providing this protection to their leaders are often more willing to adopt innovative solutions and adapt more effectively to rapidly changing market conditions, significantly strengthening their competitiveness,” he adds.

Other notable speakers included economist Tomáš Sedláček, mathematician and social innovator Karel Janeček, and experts from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The conference also offered practical insights into monitoring the impact of Donald Trump’s policies on Czech business, presented by Matyáš Pelant from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as an expert perspective on the use of artificial intelligence by Jan Biroš, a technical specialist at Microsoft.

Valuable experiences were also shared by successful entrepreneurs such as Boris Láník and Jindřich Melichar during the talk show Navigating the Crossroads Successfully.
